Connecting with a small group, no matter its focus, can help you form a community of belonging, surrounded by people who will accompany you on your spiritual journey and will surround you in prayer just as you surround them in prayer.
There are a wide range of “learning groups” through [Worship+] starting Sunday January 8th and Wednesday January 11th. These explore topics in scripture, social issues, and spiritual practices. I am especially excited about the return of Disciple Bible Study to St. John. This revised material is based upon over three decades of helping people deeply engage with the Bible while finding meaningful, lasting community.
We’re also launching something brand new this January. Life Groups are small groups meeting weekday evenings in homes, and are designed to help you cultivate your prayer life, learn to talk about your experiences with God, and experience deep Christian fellowship. If this sounds interesting to you and you haven’t yet received an invitation, please let me know or leave a message with the Church office.
As we step into 2017 together, my prayer is that each of us finds ways to feed our souls and strengthen our relationship with God. I hope that the discipleship ministries of your church can provide some of those opportunities for you. And as always, if you have an idea for trying something new – please let me know!
Grace and peace to you,
