I know I’m not the only one with a busy schedule. Whether it be school, work, family, what have you, each of us has our own life, jam-packed with things that take our time. During the Christmas season, it would be so nice and convenient to hit pause on some of those things so we are able to really focus on the holidays. The reality is, that doesn’t happen. Time doesn’t stop for us, simply because we aren’t ready for something to happen.
My guess is that Mary wasn’t fully prepared to have Jesus, that night in Bethlehem. I could guess that she had plenty more she needed to finish, to prepare for him to be born. But Christ was born on this day, many years ago, and Christmas is in fact today, whether we are ready for it or not. The good news: God doesn’t need us to be ready, just willing. So today, put your to-do lists aside and your vacuums away, and be willing to live out today for what it really is all about, celebrating the birth of Jesus with the ones we love. Merry Christmas.
Grace & Peace,
